You’ve just gotten home from the perfect date and you just can’t stop smiling. You feel as though you can walk on air and all you want to do is call them again immediately just to prolong the feeling.
Then the doubts start rolling in. How do you know the date went so well? How can you be so sure? Maybe they did not share your happy feelings and are right now complaining to someone about how lousy a date they just had. There are certain signs that are very telling and can reveal whether or not a second date is in your future.
How well did the conversation flow? Were there very many awkward pauses or was it hard to stop talking? While it is normal to have a few silent intervals that are uncomfortable, especially with two people that barely know each other, if there are too many of these it is a good indication your date did not go as well as you may have thought.
Did you order dessert or a second round of drinks? And if you did was there any hesitation? When you don’t want the evening to end you will do whatever it takes to stay in the situation. Happily and eagerly agreeing to one last drink or another refill of coffee is a definite sign that everything went well.
How were the goodbyes? Typically first date goodbyes are awkward. There are always a variety of emotions going on behind the scene and neither of you know for sure what the other is thinking. This is where paying attention to body language comes in handy.
Subtle movements can say a lot. Did they move in slightly for the hug or handshake goodnight or did they go backward? Perhaps their arms were wrapped securely around themselves; a gesture that silently screams stay away.
The next time you are on a date look for these clues and you will be able to know with confidence exactly how well your date went.
